Ann and I set off from home around 07.15, heading for Scotland. Pleasant, uneventful journey; 8 hours in total, 7 hours 20 minutes drive time plus a couple of stops.
The scenery became predictably more hilly as our drive progressed. Lovely green fields merged into hills and valleys, washed in warm sunshine. Our destination was the town if Inveraray on the west edge of Loch Fyne, just a little north west of Glasgow. Loch Fyne is the largest sea loch in Scotland, meaning it does not flow out into a river, but the southern end of the loch simply joins the sea. As a result it is tidal and the water is slightly salty.
Our hotel is called "Loch Fyne Hotel and Spa", located right on the water's edge. On arrival we checked in and immediately went for a walk while the weather was bright and sunny. (Forecast for the next few days is a bit variable.) Took a few photos and strolled into the little town about half a mile away.
After showers we enjoyed a well deserved cold drink from the bar area overlooking the lake and mountains. Supper was in the hotel restaurant. Ann had crab and I had lobster, in keeping with the fishing/ seafood theme of the area. It was an early lights for two weary visitors.
Enjoy the photos.
